MDBA SHOW & SALE: RULES & REGULATIONS

SHOW

 

Animals must be ADCA registered
Animals entered in youth classes must be owned by the youth or an immediate family member.

 

Health Certificates will be required for all entries and will be checked. All tattoos must match health papers.
All bulls 12 months and older must have either a temporary or permanent nose ring affixed.
No drugs are to be administered except under the guidance of the event veterinarian.
Youth must be 15 years of age to show a bull in the Open show.


Youth Showmanship – only female animals may be shown. If you need a female to show, let a member of the show committee know and we will furnish an animal.


PROHIBITED ITEMS:
Painting or polishing of horns or hooves with colored polish; Artificial coat coloring; Growth implants;
Drugs to alter the disposition of the animal;
Total body fitting – which includes sculpting of the hair when clipping and using adhesives, wax or mousse to shape the coat to hide animal flaws.  THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.

The Show & Sale Committee, or whoever designated, reserves the right to request the removal of any animal from the ring which is perceived to be acting in a way that may cause harm to others. Any animal deemed unmanageable by the Show and Sale Committee supervisor, before or during the show, will be required to leave the show arena. Cattle dismissed in this fashion are not eligible for sale or show placing.

Depending on the number of entries, the Show & Sale Committee may split or combine classes. 
Dam & Daughter Class: Any cow, any age and her daughter, any age, owned by the same person. Winners of the Cow/Calf pair and Dam & Daughter classes will not be eligible for Grand and Reserve unless they are entered in their individual classes.

REQUIRED ATTIRE:
Collared/buttoned shirt with sleeves (length of sleeves to be determined by weather.)  For youth show - FFA or 4-H attire is allowed, however, only official attire - nothing displaying previously won FFA or 4-H awards.  For open show – no logo, advertising or previously won awards may be displayed on attire with the exception of the official ADCA or MDBA logos. Long pants (jeans or slacks) that are dark colored and do not have tears or holes.
Boots or fully enclosed heavy footwear must be worn for safety reasons.
Long hair must be tucked in a hat or tied back for safety reasons.
Optional: belt, western hat, gloves or the use of show sticks or combs.

 

PROHIBITED ATTIRE:
Baseball caps, T-shirts or crop-top shirts that leave the midriff skin showing, sandals or canvas shoes (for safety reasons,) overalls or baggy, low-riding pants that drag the ground (for safety reasons.)
